Food and Stories. And Food.
Cookbook Club
Hello all. I love to read cookbooks. And I love to cook. But I don't have a lot of time to cook like I used to, so I cook simply and read cookbooks. I mean I really read cookbooks and books about cooking. A lot of cookbooks have wonderful stories and photos. A couple of examples include "Cooking From Quilt Country." It is filled with stories about the Amish and Mennonites and beautiful photos, and of course, luscious recipes. And "Ripe Figs" is filled with photos, recipes, and stories from Turkey, Greece, and Cyprus. And I read, cover to cover, Fannie Flagg's Original Whistle Stop Cafe Cookbook by a wonderful story teller and a good cook.
My hope is to keep the Cookbook Club going.
This month's theme is "Talk About a Readable Cookbook".
And if you want to bring in something that you have created from that book, that would be great!
Each month will be something a little different having to do with cookbooks. A lot of cookbooks have stories included and we will read a few of these. We may have everyone bring in their favorite cookbook and discuss its virtues and history. We will have a chef visit or a cookbook author visit. AND, yes, we may cook a little something from a cookbook. And eat it.
Reservations are requested so I know how many seats to set out, but last minute guests are surely welcome.
Open to teens and adults.
