"Artistic Mission Statement
As I’ve become older and wiser I have realized that music is integral to the human experience. All of our life’s journey is set to music from singing Happy Birthday, to the music of weddings and funerals, to the music of holiday celebrations. Music marks all of life’s milestones. The mundane daily tasks are also set to music as we listen to the radio or hear the theme for our favorite podcast or sing a certain melody in our head all day. What if we leaned in and joyously incorporated more music into our day? What if we sang together? Or listened to different music than we usually do?
I have been lucky enough to live my whole life in music. From California to Virginia, from Tanglewood to Ville De Luxembourg Conservatoire De Musique music has shaped my world. I have had so many amazing opportunities to play and perform with incredible musicians from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
I want to offer you a chance to get lost in the world of Classical music, particularly to discover the cello. The cello is unique because while it sometimes forms the bass support system, the cello is also often the melody imitating the range and expression of the human voice. Cellists have some of the most beautiful repertoire from Bach to Shostakovich and every composer in-between.
I hope that this introduction to the cello and Classical music will ignite your curiosity and inspire you to more fully explore all that Classical music and especially the cello has to offer."
